I have been blessed - surrounded by a loving family and friends. My life was progressing as planned - school, marriage, children. I had a great family,nice home, and a good job. We were comfortable and happy, enjoying life. 

 

Then came the curve ball. In 1996, when my son was five, he was diagnosed with a rare cancer-like disease - Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. (www.histio.org). We were fortunate in that only his skin was involved..... until 1999 when an MRI showed a mass in his brain. The biopsy proved he now had CNS involvement, and chemotherapy treatments immediately began. Not only was our young son experiencing a life we never planned on, our whole family was in a turmoil - each member in their own way. My son is a survivor, and so are my daughter, husband, and I. Although we still battle a variety of related issues, we have been shown that we are still blessed.
